Oil & Gas Drilling & Your Health: a discussion of leading experts

Monday, October 14th 7pm at Fort Collins Senior Center, 1200 Raintree dr., Fort Collins, Colorado

Panelists include:

  • Dr. Detlev Helmig, CU Boulder Atmospheric Scientist, will discuss findings from his continuous air quality monitoring study at Boulder Reservoir in Erie, CO that identified quantity and source of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) contributing to the formation of ozone along the Front Range. Many of these VOCs are toxic and can traced directly to nearby oil and gas wells
  • Marcia Martin, Longmont City Council member, will speak about why her city council agreed to invest in a continuous monitoring system for Longmont
  • Cory Carroll, MD, Physicians for Social Responsibility Colorado, will detail health impacts he has seen in his patients from being exposed to ozone, VOCs, and other dangerous air emissions
  • Moderated by Hon. William Karspeck, Mayor of Berthoud

Come and learn about how your environment is being impacted by air pollution from fracking in the Front Range. Join us in our efforts to get the Larimer County Commissioners to take action and prevent fracking from happening in our county.

Help Larimer Alliance's voice be heard!

The Larimer County Commissioners meet every Tuesday morning at 9am, second floor of the Larimer County Courthouse, 200 W Oak St, Fort Collins, CO 80521. The Alliance would like to have a regular presence at these meetings, so that the Commissioners learn and respect our concerns, particularly regarding the newly formed Oil and Gas Taskforce for Larimer County.

Please note that public commentary is always on the weekly agenda for the BOCC at the beginning of their 9am meetings, but is not shown in the timetable for the weekly agenda. The meetings are recorded as audio podcasts, which can be listened to here.
