Medical Symposium: Health Effects of Oil and Gas Development, Hosted by PSR Colorado and Colorado Medical Society.
Saturday, Dec. 5,2020
Dr Detlev Helmig was the keynote speaker, and is #11 in the long list of videos of all the excellent speakers:
Larimer County Oil & Gas Task Force public meeting, Oct 30, 2019
Oil & Gas Drilling & Your Health: a discussion of leading experts was held October 14, 2019 at the Fort Collins Senior Center
Panelists included:
Moderated by Hon. William Karspeck, Mayor of Berthoud
Dr. Detlev Helmig, CU Boulder Atmospheric Scientist, will discuss findings from his continuous air quality monitoring study at Boulder Reservoir that identified quantity and source of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) contributing to the formation of ozone along the Front Range. Many of these VOCs are toxic and can traced directly to oil and gas operations in the region.
Cory Carroll, MD, Physicians for Social Responsibility Colorado, will detail health impacts he has seen in his patients from being exposed to ozone, VOCs, and other dangerous air emissions, based on his professional experience with patients.
Marcia Martin, Longmont City Council member, will speak about why her city council agreed to invest in a continuous monitoring system for Longmont, and the history of how fracking regulation in Longmont evolved.
