New Comment Portals
(posted 9/16/19)The COGCC has created four new distinct comment portals around these areas:
- Alternative location analysis
- Cumulative impacts
- Flowline
- Mission change (protecting public health, welfare, environment and wildlife)

These documents describe the new criteria by which new drilling permits must be evaluated as a consequence of passing SB-181 in April 2019. As with any new regulations, however, it remains to be seen just how they will be interpreted and enforced.
LARIMER COUNTY Section
Drilling Permits update (May 18, 2020):
as of May 18, 2020 there were:
- 55 pending drilling permits in Larimer County (48 Form 2 & 7 Form 2A)
- 270 active wells
- 394 inactive wells
- 102 "other" status
- The primary operators are:
- Magpie Operating Inc
- Kerr McGee Oil & Gas Onshore LLP
- Prospect Energy (3)
- Extraction Oil & Gas (1) < the Unicorn well

Drilling Permits update (June 23, 2019):
as of June 23, 2019 there were 62 pending drilling permits in Larimer County:

as of June 23, 2019, there were 272 active wells, 384 inactive wells, and 102 "other status" wells in Larimer County:

WELD COUNTY Section
Drilling Permits update:
as of June 23, 2019 there are 4,665 pending drilling permits in Weld County:
