Past event: FracTracker/Larimer Alliance event, Thursday, March 30, 2023, 6-8pm

Where: Avogadro's Number, 605 S Mason St

A joint presentation by Kyle Ferrar, the western coordinator for FracTracker, and the Larimer Alliance. Rick Casey was the main presenter, assisted by Ed Behan and Tim Gosar.

Kyle discussed ongoing research that FracTracker is conducting in Colorado and California to counter the negative environmental harms of fracking, particularly with regards to the disposal of produced water. He has been working with Colorado legislators to introduce legislation in this session that would require operators of fracking sites to report where they have obtained the water used, and how it is disposed of. This has been a glaring omission in past regulations that needs to be addressed going forward, as water resources become more and more constrained in Colorado.

Rick focused on the upcoming passage of new O&G regulations by the Fort Collins city council.  Here is a link to his slide presentation.

There was a lively Q&A session afterwards that lasted an hour. There was a general 'call to arms' to get people to show up at the next city council meeting on April 4, 2023.
